Welcome to our August newsletter!

There’s a lot happening at WPNSW this August! Super League registrations are open, our 17U and 15U Boys and Girls State Teams are locked in, and capitation fees are frozen from last season – no increase this year. Plus, Coffee Club for Coaches sessions are now live on YouTube, and we had a special guest session with AJ at the Academy!

A Message From The CEO
  CEO message

Dear WPNSW Family,

As we enter the final month of the 2024/25 season, it’s been a fantastic year of growth.

The WPNSW Board has approved the FY25/26 budget, and after returning to surplus, we’re freezing membership fees, both club/association affiliation fees and individual membership capitation fees for next season.

Following extensive consultation, the Board has also endorsed our 2025–2032 Strategic Plan, which will launch alongside WPA’s Strategic Framework on 23 August—thank you to everyone who contributed.

Next season’s Events & Competitions calendar is now live, and Regional Service Plans are underway. The annual club and association affiliation process will take place in August ahead of the 1 September season roll-over.

Thank you for working together towards a stronger future for water polo in NSW. I cannot wait to see what we can achieve together in the year ahead.

Yours in water polo,
Lucy

2025/26 Event Dates and Venues Annouced

Water Polo NSW is thrilled to present a packed calendar for the 2025/2026 season. The flagship NSW State Championships will run from 1-11 December 2025 at Sydney Olympic Park, featuring five age groups: U12, U14, U16, U18, and U22. Team entries open on 17 October and close 31 October.

In early 2026, regional events take the spotlight. The Open Country Club Championships (23-25 January in Albury/Wodonga) and Junior Country Club Championships (6-8 February on the Central Coast) provide valuable competition for senior and junior players across regional NSW. The NSW Masters Championships (21-22 February in Tamworth) offer a fun and social weekend for players born in 1991 or earlier. Rounding out the season is the Big Orange U12 Carnival (6-8 March in Orange), a development-focused event for our youngest players (U12's). We look forward to another exciting season of competition, connection, and community across NSW.

Our Academy athletes were absolutely stoked to be joined by none other than NSW water polo legend and three-time Olympian, Aidan "AJ" Roach!

AJ didn’t just stop by for a quick visit, he jumped right into the pool deck, helping coach the session alongside our Academy staff. With a wealth of international experience and years at the top of the game, AJ brought unmatched insight, passion, and energy to the training.

He shared invaluable tips, broke down elite-level strategies, and offered real-time feedback that left a lasting impression on every athlete in the pool. More than that, he inspired our young players with stories from his Olympic journey, reminding them of what’s possible with dedication, teamwork, and resilience.

It was an unforgettable experience and a huge boost for our Academy athletes to learn from one of the best. Thanks for joining us, AJ!
