Last weekend, Coffs Harbour played host to the second annual Water Polo NSW U12's Banana Bowl Festival, a great event that brought together over 100 regional juniors for a fun filled tournament with a packed schedule of games and exceptional player development.

The festival featured teams from different regions competing in a friendly yet competitive atmosphere. Teams travelled from Tamworth, Alstonville, Newcastle and the Central Coast to take part, with the young players developing their sportsmanship as well as their skills.

The tournament format ensured that every team had ample opportunities to compete against a variety of opponents, fostering a sense of camaraderie among the young teams. With every splash and goal, the players showcased their passion for water polo, creating a great atmosphere that resonated throughout the festival.

One of the festival's primary objectives, as with all WPNSW U12’s events was to foster player development, and it did not disappoint. Coaches, staff, volunteers and parents worked collaboratively to create an environment where the young players could enhance their skills, learn new techniques, and build a strong foundation for their future in water polo.

In addition to the exciting matches and player development, the Banana Bowl Festival also marked the accreditation of three new referees, contributing to the growth and sustainability of water polo in regional NSW.

The festival was a resounding success, leaving a lasting impact on the players, coaches, and the regional water polo community. Now in its second year, The Banana Bowl is quickly securing its place as a highlight in the calendar of U12’s events in NSW! Congratulations to Tamworth who took home the Banana Bowl trophy this year, this young team have attended several WPNSW festivals over the last two years and it has been inspiring watching their growth, development and resilience in that time, a well-deserved win!

Thank-you to Coffs Harbour Water Polo for hosting, your tireless efforts throughout the weekend are appreciated. Thank-you too to all of the clubs, coaches, parents and volunteers for all that you do in getting your teams to these events and ensuring the players have a positive experience as they start out on their water polo journey.
