Super League Week Five Round-Up

This week saw top of the table clashes in the Men's league of week five of Water Polo NSW’s Super League 2025-26.Sydney Uni and UTS Balmain reamin still on 100% win rate in the women’s and Drummoyne are now the only team in the men’s having won all their games. 

Women 

Hunter Hurricanes 6 21 Cronulla

Cronulla had a strong performance against Hunter Hurricanes on Saturday afternoon at Lambton Swimming Pool 

Madison Berggren was Cronulla’s standout top scorer hitting the net seven times, taking her total to 24 this season 

Ashlee Rider and Lulu Gaither both scored a hattrick. 

 

Drummoyne 10  5 UNSW Wests  

Drummoyne continued their ongoing winning streak against UNSW Wests.  

Stela Lovrinovic Kaic was the top scorer of the match, scoring a hattrick and Lilli Harris, Morgan de Jersey and Georgia Milne all scoring a brace.

Cronulla 15  13 Drummoyne

A close game at Sutherland Leisure Centre between Crounlla and Drummyone, but Cronulla eventually game out as the winners.

Madison Berggren was once again the top scorer, but Abbey Simshauser, Megan Linder and Indigo Ditterick all scored hattricks to make an interesting game.

Hunter Hurricanes 6  19 Sydney University

Sydney University maintain their winning streak against Hunter Hurricanes, who are still yet to win a game.

Luci Marsh was the top scorer, scoring seven goals, with Nancy Lee scoring four and  Savannah Henshaw scoring a hattrick.

Men 

Hunter Hurricanes 9 16 Cronulla

Cronulla had a strong performance to begin the weekend against Hunter Hurricanes on Saturday afternoon 

Jake Robinson scored four goals for Hunter Hurricanes, but it wasn't enough to beat Cronulla, who had goals from Daniel Davis, Tyler Padua and Ethan Payne. 

Sydney Uni 17 – 13 UTS Balmain 

There were a few close games in the men's league over the weekend, including this one between Sydney Uni and UTS Balmain. 

Daniel Lawrence was the top scorer for UTS Balmain, but hattricks from Bruno Bobic, Toby Goldschmidt and Cory Webber helped Sydney Uni to secure the win. 

Drummoyne 18  12 UNSW Wests  

Drummoyne out an end to UNSW Wests winning streak when they met at Drummoyne Swimming Centre on Saturday evening.  

Jarrod Gilchrist's five goals wasn't enough to stop the combination of Matt Gronow, Spencer Burdack, Maximilian Froreich and Or Schlein collectively scoring 13 of Drummoyne's 18.

Cronulla 18  20 Drummoyne

Off the back of beating UNSW Wests, Drummoyne narrowly beat Cronulla to now be the only team with 100% win ratio in the league.

There were some high scoring players with Maximilian Froreich scoring six goals, Tyler Padua socring five and Koby Gilchrist scoring four goals.

Hunter Hurricanes 10  18 Sydney University

Sydney University won their second game of the weekend against Hunter Hurricanes, who are still yet to win a game.

Bruno Bobic and Toby Goldschmidt scored nine of Sydney Uni's goals between the two of them, and Hunter Wright scored four of Hunter's goals, taking him to the top scorer of the league with 24 goals.
