Vale Patricia 'Pat' Jones

It is with deep sadness that Water Polo NSW acknowledges the passing of our Life Member, Patricia 'Pat' Jones, one of the most significant figures in the history of our sport.

A pioneer, advocate and leader, Pat dedicated decades to the advancement of women's water polo. As the inaugural manager of the NSW women's team in 1969 and the Australian women's team in 1976, she helped lay the foundations for generations of female athletes.

Her tireless advocacy for gender equity and her instrumental role in the successful campaign to include women's water polo in the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games changed the course of our sport forever.
Pat's extraordinary contribution to water polo in NSW, Australia and around the world leaves a legacy that will continue to inspire future generations.

Our heartfelt condolences are with Pat's family, friends and the many members of our water polo community whose lives she touched.

Vale, Pat. Thank you for your vision, your courage and your lifelong dedication to our sport. Your legacy will never be forgotten
