WATER POLO NSW COACH DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY THIS SUMMER
Water Polo NSW is pleased to announce a Coaching Development Opportunity, running throughout December 2025 and January 2026. This summer initiative provides NSW coaches with rare access to observe elite high-performance environments, learn directly from national and international coaching leaders, and deepen their understanding of technical and tactical concepts that shape modern water polo.
In December, participating coaches will have the opportunity to observe a range of high-performance training settings, including NSWIS sessions led by Neven Cirkovic, Australian Sharks sessions delivered by National Men’s Head Coach Tim Hamill, and NAGP U16 training blocks facilitated by pathway coaches Harry Sanderson and Dean Semmens. These sessions offer valuable insight into athlete preparation, session structure, communication strategies, and gameplay frameworks used throughout national pathways and performance programs.
In January, coaches will also have access to a special masterclass led by five-time Olympian Felipe Perone, one of the world’s most influential players. Fresh off winning gold at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships before announcing his retirement, Felipe brings unparalleled insight into the modern game. This session will deliver advanced technical and tactical concepts with a strong focus on movement, creativity, and the evolving demands of high-level international water polo.
The strength of this development opportunity lies in its practical, immersive format. Coaches will observe real-time training delivery, gain firsthand exposure to high-performance decision-making, and take away actionable learning that can be implemented within their club, school, or representative environments. This initiative continues WPNSW’s commitment to elevating coaching capability across the state and supporting a long-term pathway of coach education and development.
Full details, including session dates, times and locations, will be provided directly to coaches who submit an Expression of Interest. NSW coaches of all levels are encouraged to apply, with limited places available.
