WPNSW BOARD UPDATE
Dear Water Polo NSW Community,
I am pleased to share that Lisa May has been appointed as the new President of Water Polo NSW.
Lisa brings a unique combination of corporate expertise, governance experience, and grassroots sports involvement that will support WPNSW’s ongoing evolution. Over her 30+ year corporate career, including global C-suite roles, she has developed deep skills in governance, strategy, and leadership. Previous board experience includes roles with Gymnastics Australia along-side other member and corporate boards as well as a real passion for leadership which will be extremely valuable in the role of President. Her passion for water polo has grown over the past five years and has been actively involved in the sport across all levels—from grassroots development through to pathways, National League, and High Performance.
It has been my privilege to serve as President during a period of significant change for the board. Over the past several months, the Board has worked diligently to stabilise our operations, rebuild trust, and lay the groundwork for a stronger, more unified future. This past weekend, our Board came together for a two-day Strategy and Governance Workshop—an important milestone in our journey. The workshop focused on commencing a review of our strategic plan, strengthening governance practices, and fostering the collaborative relationships essential to our success. The energy, commitment, and shared purpose displayed by the new Board give me great confidence in the path ahead. With Lisa at the helm and the strength of our management team now in place led by Lucy, I believe Water Polo NSW is well-positioned to grow the sport, support our clubs and participants, and build a thriving community across the state.
Please join me in warmly welcoming Lisa to the role. I look forward to supporting the Board and our broader community as we continue to move forward—together.
We thank our members for their continued support and look forward to sharing more exciting updates as we move forward. Your patience, passion, and belief in the future of water polo —both in and out of the pool - have been invaluable.
With appreciation,
Anna Gladman
President (Outgoing)
